What is local SEO?

And what actually moves Map Pack rankings.

Local SEO is the work of making your business the first choice on Google Maps and in "near me" searches for the places you serve. Our local SEO services cover your profile, citations, reviews and website together.

Google says local results are based mainly on three things. Relevance: how well your profile and website match the search. Distance: how far you are from the searcher or the place they name. Prominence: how well known and trusted you are, from reviews, links, mentions and your rankings in normal search. We cannot move your address, so local SEO focuses on relevance and prominence.

How to get more Google reviews, the right way

Reviews are one of the few local ranking factors you control. Here is the routine we set up.

  1. Ask at the right moment

Straight after the job is finished and the customer is happy, not weeks later.

  2. Make it one tap

Send your direct Google review link by text or WhatsApp, with a short personal message.

  3. Ask everyone, not just fans

Google does not allow asking only happy customers, and a natural mix of reviews looks more trustworthy.

  4. Never pay or swap for reviews

Incentivised and fake reviews break Google's policies and UK consumer law.

  5. Reply to every review

Thank people by name, mention the service and the area, and answer complaints calmly.

Service-area businesses

No shop front? You can still rank.

If you visit customers rather than having them visit you, as most trades, cleaners and mobile services do, Google lets you hide your address and list the areas you serve. You will still rank most easily close to your verified address, so we combine a well-set-up profile with website pages and mentions for the towns further away.

  • Address hidden correctly, with service areas set by town or postcode district
  • Area pages only for places you really cover
  • Local mentions and citations in the towns you want to grow into

Local SEO questions

See also our FAQ page.

How much do local SEO services cost?
Our local SEO services are included in every monthly plan, from £495 a month excluding VAT, with a three-month minimum. That covers Google Business Profile management, citations, a review routine and Map Pack tracking. There are no per-listing fees or set-up charges for an existing website.
Why is my business not showing on Google Maps?
Usually one of three reasons: your Google Business Profile is incomplete or in the wrong category, you have fewer recent reviews than competitors, or your business details do not match across the web. Distance also matters, so you will rank most easily close to your address.
Can I rank on Google Maps without a shop or office?
Yes. Google allows service-area businesses, such as plumbers or mobile beauticians, to hide their address and list the areas they serve instead. You still need a real address for verification, and you will rank most easily near it.
How many Google reviews do I need?
There is no fixed number. What matters is having more recent, genuine reviews than the businesses you compete with, and replying to them.
Can you write reviews for us?
No. Fake or incentivised reviews break Google's policies and UK consumer law, and they can get your profile suspended. We help you ask real customers at the right moment instead.
How long does local SEO take?
Profile and citation fixes can move Map Pack positions within a few weeks. Ranking in towns further from your address, or in competitive categories, usually takes three to six months.
Do I need a separate page for every town?
Only for towns you genuinely serve and can say something useful about. Copy-and-paste town pages are thin content and can hurt you. See how we handle Greater Manchester areas.
