What is dental SEO?

And what it should do for a practice with chairs to fill.

Dental SEO is the work of making a practice the one patients find when they search for a dentist or a specific treatment nearby, in Google results, on Google Maps and in AI assistants. Done properly, it brings in the treatments you want more of, such as implants or aligners, rather than only calls about NHS availability.

Patients rarely search for a practice by name. They search for a problem or a treatment and a place, and they compare three or four options in a few minutes. The practices that win those moments have a page for each treatment, a profile full of recent photos and reviews, and fees that are easy to find. That combination is the core of our local SEO work, adjusted for the way dental patients decide.

How patients choose a dentist now

The search, the comparison and the question they ask an assistant.

A patient with toothache at seven in the morning searches "emergency dentist" and phones the first practice that is open and close. Someone thinking about implants spends weeks reading, comparing fees and checking reviews before booking a consultation. Both journeys now often include a question to ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overview, such as which practice nearby is good with nervous patients.

Each journey needs something different from your website and profile, so we track the real questions your patients ask, across Google and six AI assistants, and build pages that answer them. The tracking is part of AI Search Optimisation, and it shows quickly where a competitor is being named instead of you.

The pages a dental practice website needs

Dental website design starts with the questions patients ask before they book.

A homepage and a single "treatments" list is not enough. Each private treatment deserves its own page that explains who it suits, what happens at each appointment, how long results last and what it costs, including finance if you offer it. Those pages are what Google ranks for "dental implants near me" and what AI assistants quote when someone asks how much aligners cost in their town.

We build practice sites on WordPress so your team can update fees and staff without help, and we keep them fast on phones, because most patients find you on one. If your current site is slow or dated, a redesign keeps the pages that already rank while everything else improves.

  • Treatment pages for implants, clear aligners, whitening, veneers and hygiene
  • An emergency dentist page with today's hours and a phone number
  • NHS and private information, stated plainly
  • A fees page that matches what reception quotes
  • Team pages with roles and GDC numbers
  • New patient forms and directions with parking details

Advertising rules that affect a dental website

Short, practical points. Always check the current guidance with your regulator.

The General Dental Council expects practice advertising, including websites, to be accurate and not misleading, and its guidance asks for clear details such as the practice address and the GDC registration numbers of the dental professionals you name. In England, CQC registered providers must display their latest CQC rating on their website, usually as the official widget.

Before and after photos, patient stories and claims about results need care and patient consent, and the ASA advertising code applies to what you say online. Aesthetic clinics have an extra limit: prescription only medicines, such as botulinum toxin, cannot be promoted to the public, so pages describe the consultation rather than the product.

We build these points into every page we write, and we flag anything that needs a check by your compliance lead before it goes live. They also help with search, because clear, verifiable information is what answer engines prefer to quote.

How we work with a practice, step by step

From a free audit to a monthly plan, with the practice manager kept in the loop.

We start with a free audit of how your practice appears for the treatments you care about, then agree the order of work. Most practices see profile improvements first and treatment page gains a few months later.

  1. Audit and targets

Your treatments, fees and catchment, compared with the practices patients see instead.

  2. Fix the foundations

Speed, mobile layout and indexing, using the checks from our technical SEO service.

  3. Build treatment pages

Written with your clinicians, checked for accuracy and the advertising rules.

  4. Profile and reviews

Google Business Profile improved and a review routine your reception team can run.

  5. Track and report

Monthly report on calls, bookings, rankings and AI answers, in plain English.

Practices across Stockport, Trafford and the rest of the UK work with us by video call, so no site visit is needed.

Questions practice owners ask

See also our FAQ page.

Is search marketing worth it for a dental practice?
For private treatments it usually is, because patients research before they book and a well placed page keeps working month after month. The aim is getting a dental practice found when people nearby search for a dentist or a treatment, in the ordinary results, on Google Maps and inside AI answers. Most of the gains come from clear treatment pages, a well kept Google Business Profile, steady reviews and a fast website.
What does it cost each month?
Our SEO plans start from £495 a month excluding VAT, with Google Business Profile management included. A practice that also wants tracking across six AI assistants would choose AI Search Optimisation from £695 a month. See every price.
How long does dental SEO take to work?
Profile and review improvements often show in Google Maps within six to ten weeks. Treatment pages for competitive private work, such as implants, usually take three to six months to settle in the ordinary results, longer in busy city centre markets.
How do I choose a dental SEO company?
Ask to see a sample report, ask who writes the treatment pages, and check that the contract leaves your website, profile and analytics in the practice's name. Be wary of anyone who guarantees first place or offers to write reviews for you.
Can you write patient reviews for us?
No. Reviews written or bought on a business's behalf break Google's rules and UK consumer law. We set up a simple way for real patients to leave feedback after their appointment, and we help you reply to every review well.
We have no NHS places. Should the website still mention NHS care?
Yes, briefly and honestly. Many people search for NHS dentists first. A clear note on whether you are accepting NHS patients, and what your private fees are, saves your reception team calls and keeps the right patients coming through.
Do you work with private clinics as well as dentists?
Yes. Aesthetics, physiotherapy, hearing and other private clinics face the same local search questions, with their own advertising rules. The approach is the same: clear treatment pages, honest fees and a strong profile.
